Ron Roy's Black Licorice

This is Ron Roy's Black Licorice glaze that has been floating around on clayart for a while.

The interesting thing for me about this glaze was the way that the glazes near the top developed oil spots.

This illustrates that glazes that are high in alumina and silica are good for developing oil spots.

I have used the glaze from grid location #8. It does give oil spots on the interior of bowls, but they are small spots. Any of the glossy glazes will probably end up being good black glazes. The oils spot glazes near the top are probably also worth exploring.
