Fake Ash

The seed for this glaze came from Alex at Wayne State University.

He is the same guy who was testing the Tilton Matt in the gas kiln at cone 9/10. He developed a fake ash for cone 9/10 and I used the fluxes from it as the basis for this grid.

Glazes in grid locations #21, 22, 26 and 27 all have a nice satin feel to them.

I have tested glaze #21 with a variety of colorants. Since this glaze is high in strontium and not too high in alumina and silica it is good for learning how strontium reacts with the various colorants.

Glaze #6 on this grid if applied thick is a nice dry crusty yellow.
